Sick, sore girl and her adventures with gigs and piercings

You know that poll I did last week? Well as it turns out I ended up going to see Junior Senior (after spending an hour at Temple for Cam's sake) while buggering up my knee and being sick. And on Saturday I got my snakebites pierced. So on Sunday and Monday I had a swollen bottom lip and was recovering from my awful cold.




On Friday I was as sick as a dog at work, and while it would have been lovely if I could have gone home early, we were short-staffed and it was very busy. So I stayed, spending most of the day sneezing, coughing and trying not to cry (I am not a good sick person). The fact they had stuffed up everyone's pay didn't make me feel better either. I was paid less this month than last month, even though I did a whole heap of overtime and was apparently promoted. So I was very glad to go home.

We decided to go meet Cam at Temple before going to KOKO to see Junior Senior at about 11pm. The guy she'd hooked up with last weekend was meant to meet her, but in the end didn't come. So we all trudged on to Camden, lining up outside KOKO for a good half hour (and being most unimpressed with all of the coke snorting going on). We finally got in and I was finally somwhere I fit in. We danced for a while (well, Sierra and I did anyway, the others were making a big deal about being "out of place"). At about midnight Junior Senior came on and rocked as much as they did the last time I saw them. They only played for an hour but they were still amazing and I cannot wait to see them again.

After the concert we found a lounge area right up top of KOKO to sit and chat. That place is amazing, it's like an old theatre and there are about 15 levels, all looking down on the stage. And while it was packed full of scenesters, who I usually mock, it was nice to actually fit in. I don't think I've seen so many blazers, badges and tweed hats in all my life. Anyway, it became apparent that I'd hurt my knee somehow and the others were tored, so we left at about 2am. We didn't end up getting home until almost 4am, by which point we were freezing cold and my knee was in agony.

On Saturday a big group of us went into Camden Town. We all sort of split up because most of the group wanted to go to a pub while Amy #2, Sierra and I went to Cold Steel as Amy wanted to get her nose re-pierced and I wanted to ask about the various piercings I want. As it turns out my ears are not suited for Industrial piercings (they type I want, anyway) so I priced everything else and decided "What the hell" and got my Snakebites done. And MY GOD did it hurt! Though once the initial pain died down, it wasn't too bad. Just sore and numb, really. Some of my friends were impressed, others not-so. But I loved them and strutted about the place (much like when I had both eyebrows pierced, really). That night we watched DVDs (The Incredibles and Finding Neverland) and ate too many snacks and went to bed pretty early, though I got very little sleep.

On Sunday I did nothing but watch TV, sleep a lot and feel sick and sore. My cold was worse, my lip was triple its normal size and my knee was still sore. By the end of the night I figured I'd take the morning off from work, but by Monday morning I knew I needed a full day off. And so Monday was spnt in bed for half the day and watching cartoons the rest.

And now I'm back at work and feeling sick still, but at least the worry of what my bosses will think of my piercings is over. Thankfully I'm not only NOT in trouble, but my manager thinks they're cool. Awesome!
